Bermuda Shorts # 3

This was originally sent on 5-18-08:
Hey Everybody - Catching up on yesterday. . . . we took the shuttle from the hotel to the pier. We met 2 nice young guys named James and Garrett and visited with them on the ride. They're from Durham, N.C. and we hope to see them again on the cruise. James was telling us that if you had any liquids in your suitcase, they would hold your luggage and you would have to go in person to get it released. (Now, realize that this is not a SECURITY check. They're not wanting you to bring your own booze on board - you have to buy theirs!) He said that the people on Cruise Critic called this place where they held the luggage the Naughty Room!!!! Surely, they wouldn't stop my bag just because I had 6 bottles of Propel flavored water in it!!! The shuttle got us to the pier at Noon, which was the time we were supposed to board. However, the ship had come in late that morning and we wouldn't be allowed to board until 2:00pm. So, we walked up to the Rainbow Market and shopped through 2 of the stalls then went for lunch.
Gum tree we found at the Rainbow Market
We first stopped at Henry's Bar and Grille, but all of the tables had those tall bar stools and I knew that would kill my back (and then I'd fall off the stool and make a scene!!) so we went next door to Aromas. After sitting down and ordering drinks, we realized that is was a mostly Thai place (which I would never have ordered on such a hot day). Well, Ben had Mongolian beef which was the absolute best we've ever tasted. And, I had Red Thai Curry and it was out of this world! Of course, I was sweating like a work horse and my tongue burned for the rest of the day. . . but it was worth it!!
Our ship - the Norwegian Majesty
After boarding, we had gotten all of our luggage delivered to the room except for - you guessed it - my suitcase with the bottled water in it. We went checking around and, you guessed it again, it was in the Naughty Room!!! We had to let them open a couple of the bottles and also bribe them with some of our M&M stast to get out with the bag. After that, we explored the ship a little and were planning on taking a nap during the life boat muster drill. That's what we always do on Princess. . . .have I mentioned that we're sailing on Norwegian Cruise Lines for the first time? Anyway, we found out that they take names at the muster drill!! Oh, no!!! We might have to go to the Naughty Room again! So, like all good passengers (who are afraid of the Naughty Room) we went to life boat muster and now know what to do in case the ship sinks or is attacked by pirates.
We skipped the big dining room for dinner and went to the Welcome Show instead. Cute singers and dancers, some good music and a really funny comedian from Texas. We'll definitely have to go see more of his shows!! Then we turned in for the night and watched "August Rush" in the room. That was a good movie - a little strange, but good!
Now, we're up this morning and ready to look for new adventures.
